Exciting News: A New Fabric Shop in York City Centre!
Great news for sewing and craft enthusiasts in York!
I am absolutely thrilled to finally share that there is a brand new fabric shop opening in York city centre – and I am over the moon I can finally shout it from the rooftops!
This has been such a long journey. I originally planned to launch my fabric bricks-and-mortar shop back in April 2020, but like so many other businesses, everything came to a sudden halt when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. It was an incredibly difficult time globally, and the timing for my plans couldn’t have been worse. However, during that period I adapted and began selling my products online instead, which turned out to be a wonderful success and really confirmed just how much love there is for what I do.
Restoring a Beautiful Historic Building
My new fabric shop is located in a stunning Grade II listed building in York city centre. When I first took it on, it was completely derelict and needed a huge amount of work – right down to installing a new shop floor and carrying out major structural repairs, including replacing beams and restoring the building’s beauty.

During the restoration, I discovered some incredible original features. It’s been such a privilege to breathe life back into this historic building while still preserving its character and charm.
Even with all the challenges along the way – including working through restrictions and social distancing – it’s been amazing to finally see my vision becoming reality.
What’s Next for the Shop
The coming weeks and months will be an exciting learning curve as I settle into running a physical retail store for the first time. I’ve never owned a shop before, so I know I have a lot to learn, but I am genuinely excited, passionate, and ready for the challenge. 💪
Over time, I hope to expand the range to include beautiful fabrics, sewing patterns, yarns and a wide selection of haberdashery and gifts. My goal is to grow into York’s leading fabric shop and a go-to destination for makers, sewists, and creative minds!
Sewing Workshops (Coming Soon)
I would also love to host weekly sewing workshops and creative classes in my sewing studio. For now, these are on hold until it is safe to welcome individuals and groups in closer proximity, but as soon as I can, I can’t wait to open the doors for people to learn to sew, improve their skills, and meet like-minded crafty people.

Covid-19 Safety Measures
Like many people, I am still navigating the challenges of the pandemic and doing everything I can to keep everyone safe.
To help protect customers and myself, I kindly ask that the following guidelines are followed when visiting:
- A maximum of 3 customers in the shop at any one time
- Please sanitise your hands on entry
- Maintain a 2-metre distance from others, including while queueing outside
- A maximum browsing time of 15 minutes per customer
- Click & collect is available for online orders
