I’m so glad you’re here!
I created this space to share my sewing journey, showcase projects that I (and occasionally my colleagues) have been working on, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the fabrics and sewing notions I stock both online and in my York fabric shop. I’ll also be sharing updates, inspiration, and all things sewing-related along the way.
This really is the start of something very special for me.
I’m a self-taught sewist with a real passion for creating and, just as importantly, helping others discover the joy of sewing too. I still remember telling my husband years ago that I’d love to learn to sew, and that Christmas, he surprised me with my very first sewing machine. That was around seven years ago now, and although life (and two small children!) means I don’t always get as much sewing time as I’d like, every time I sit down at my machine I completely lose myself in it. It’s my happy place.
One thing I noticed early on was how difficult it could be to find relaxed, creative sewing workshops that didn’t feel like being back in a classroom. That’s where the idea began, I wanted to create something a bit different. A welcoming, inspiring, slightly quirky fabric shop right here in York.
And now, here I am, taking the leap into opening my very first retail store.
I won’t pretend it isn’t a little daunting. With everything from Brexit to Covid-19 and the changing high street, it’s certainly a challenging time to start a new business. But I truly believe there’s room for a beautiful, creative space where people can come together, feel inspired, browse gorgeous fabrics, pick up unique sewing supplies, and (when possible) take part in fun, friendly workshops.
I really hope you’ll follow along and be part of this journey with me – it means more than you know.
